Dermatitis is a general term for conditions that cause inflammation of the skin, typically resulting in dryness, itchiness, swelling and discolouration. Although the terms dermatitis and eczema are often used interchangeably, eczema is a type of dermatitis, but not all dermatitis is eczema.
