In medicine, a cut-off value is used to categorise diagnostic or screening test results, typically as positive or negative for a condition. In allergology, examples of cut-offs include the size of a skin weal produce by a skin prick test, or the level of specific IgE antibodies in the blood to an allergen as measured by a blood test.
